Addicted to ceramics? Maybe you’ve already taken one of our hand building classes (gotten tipsy while making mugs, vessels or planters…) and are super keen to learn more? Or have you finally got a whole load of time on your hands due to lockdown, and want to make the most of it?

We can't wait to get you hooked on ceramics with a hands on, interactive, online course!

This class is ideal for folks with zero experience, through to those who've had a few lessons and want to improve and learn a few new tricks.

It's a far more advanced and detailed course than our Clay at Home portal and is designed to get you up-to-speed on the basics of ceramics. You’ll learn the fundamentals of hand building, including three techniques: coiling, pinching, and slab building. You’ll also get the opportunity to glaze your pieces at a bonus in-studio session once lockdown lifts!

How does the course work?

We’ll courier you a huge 12.5kg block of white handbuilding clay, along with all the tools you’ll need, and an underglaze palette.

Each Monday for three weeks, you’ll have access to a watch-anytime video tutorial covering that week’s technique. We’ll cover three techniques - pinch pots, slab building and coils, and talk about our major projects, which can be anything you’d like to make!

The following Monday, there’s a “live hang” with one of our incredible tutors to talk to each of you in the class. We’ll discuss as a group any questions, helpful tips and tricks, and check in with progress.

You won’t be marked, you can go at your own pace. If you’re running behind, or you can’t make the live hang that week, you can just watch at a later date - they’ll all be recorded! Each week you take on a new technique, and the following week, we review. You can also email us any q’s you have as you go along.

The course also includes firing of all work created with your block of clay, plus a bonus in-studio glazing session once lockdown lifts!

Live hangs will happen 6.30-7.30pm Monday. If you can’t attend, that’s ok, its recorded and put online for the rest of the class to re-watch.
